David Power Sound Designer

I plan to bring my unique touch to the world of sound design by leveraging my Tascam field recorder, along with other skills and techniques I have picked up throughout my years studying at River-side Music College. This tool enables me to craft bespoke soundscapes and foley, setting my work apart. To gain recognition, I intend to collaborate with companies that specialise in producing animations and short video clips. These partnerships will not only enhance my reputation but also increase my visibility within the public eye.

Audience

I have chosen to undertake two interconnected roles in the world of audio, Music Production and Sound Design. I believe that merging these roles can create a unique combination, particularly in the realm of video production, where soundscapes and music are integral components. My intention is to utilise the skills and knowledge I've gained through my college education to develop and showcase my expertise effectively.

The demand for high-quality and custom sound design is on the rise. Clients and audiences are seeking unique, tailored soundscapes that enhance the storytelling within animation. This trend invol-ves creating soundtracks that perfectly complement the animation's theme and style.

 

Collaborating with animators and advertisers is a key trend. Sound designers are becoming an integral part of the animation production process, working closely with animators to en-sure that sound and visuals are synchronised effectively.

 

Some sound designers are exploring the use of artificial intelligence and automation to streamline the creation of soundscapes. This can help speed up the production process, especially for smaller clips. It is important to stay familiar with current trends, AI being one of the biggest milestones in history has just been made accessible to the public. This has left the opportunity to have both positive and negative effects within the industry, AI can help speed things up, improving the standard of information but at the same time can also remove aspects that make a project feel human, by eliminating any small imperfections with AI, you will also be removing the personality, character and style, making the project flawless can have an adverse effect in some situations, removing human creativity, creating a project that is in essence synthetic. I believe that if AI is utilised in the right manner, it can definitely help within the industry, however, overuse of AI will have serious adverse effects.

 

 

Music Production:

 

My music production endeavours will target two distinct audiences. Firstly, I aim to captivate DJs worldwide who seek fresh and vibrant tracks to elevate their sets. Additionally, I wish to engage with producers and composers interested in dance remixes of their compositions. By introducing my music to the public, I hope to expand my recognition in the industry. Aiming my music towards teenagers and above. Making my music accessible through streaming services will play a pivotal role in growing my fanbase as both a DJ, a music producer and a sound designer.

 

My chosen genre is experimental styled electronic dance music, a blend of my favourite musical styles. I aspire to create music that is as unique as it is unexpected. By combining various influences, I aim to offer listeners a refreshing auditory experience, leaving them pleasantly surprised by the variety and complexity of my compositions.

 

My music will be featured in soundtracks for videogames or short video clips/animations. I aim to have created a soundtrack that will not only be fitting for the visuals itself but also music that people will be inclined to listen and dance to. An aspiring artist who has successfully managed to achive this is Sochi Terada. Mick Gordon also thrives whithin this department. His unique experimental sounds capture the audience due to his creativity of morphing sound tailoring it to his requirements. Aphex twin is a really succesful competitor also. Ritchard James was a mjor influence when addressing Mick Gordons work, aim to exell within the deparment of sound tracks.

The outlook for both video soundtracks and experimental electronic music appears promising, resonating with opportunities for those who craft captivating and unconventional audio experiences.

 

The two roles I have chosen, sound design and music production, align seamlessly with potential career opportunities, particularly within the gaming industry or companies involved in producing small animation clips. The prospect of securing a position dedicated to sound design for gaming or the creation of music and sound design for short clips matches my professional objectives and expertise perfectly.
